Week 10 Reflection

For the first class of week 10, we learn about Topic Ideate. Ideation phase is where we focus on generating ideas. In this phase look at the quantity, rather than quality, then later in next phase we will decide which idea we want to choose. The benefits of this phase is we can discover unexpected areas of innovation and bring together perspective and strengths of the team members. There are many techniques that can be used in this phase such as mind maps, brainstorming, storyboards and many more. When choosing the ideas to bring in prototyping stage, methods that can be used is for example dot voting, four categories method and now how wow matrix.

For the second class of the week, we learn about prototyping. Prototyping, have two type; low fidelity and high fidelity. Low fidelity prototype can be created using medium that not similar to final product medium for example sketches and storyboards that were created on paper or cardboard. High fidelity prototype is prototype that look like final system and commonly created using software.

My reflection: Ideation phase is important because we want every team members to give ideas. Because usually introvert team members afraid to throw out their ideas. Because of this reason, "judgement-free zone" is needed in this phase. The techniques that were listed in slides is one of the best way to collect the ideas because the technique promote the involvement of all members and also it is good to avoid overthinking. In our group project, we also apply the technique to collect idea that is Crazy 8's. We choose that technique because our group usually overthinking when we do group meeting. Before we move to prototype phase, we use dot voting method to choose best ideas we going to bring. For prototyping, our group create wireframe for low fidelity prototype and we use Figma for high fidelity prototype so we can show the function of our group project. Below is the snapshot of our group wireframe.
