Week 6 Reflection

On the first class of week 6, we learned Topic 4 (User Interface (UI) & USER Experience (UX) Methodology). User-centered design (UCD) is an iterative design process in which designers and other stakeholders focus on the users and their needs in each phase of the design process. Design thinking is a non-linear, iterative process which seeks to understand users, challenge assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test. There are 5 stages of design thinking; empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test.

The advantages of design thinking

-feasibility check

-No alarms and no surprises (for users and development team)

-Clarity and transparency

-Continuous improvement

During this class we also do activity where we list the types of question that we ask the user.

For the second class of week 6, we continue the topic 4. A design sprint is a design thinking method used to solve complex problems throughout co-creation, rapid prototyping, and qualitative testing with targeted users. There were 5 stages to design sprint; map, sketch, decide, prototype and sketch.

The advantages of design sprint are

-Problem discovery and idea validation

-Shared understating of problems.

-High productivity.

-Roadmap for the future

My reflection: When we focus on our users more, we able to understand them and recognize the flaw of our system from their point of view. We also able to solve complex problem in more efficient ways.

After we finish topic 4, our group do the presentation of the project proposal
